The United Nations established the International Day of the Girl Child on October 11th, 2012. This day’s goal is to raise awareness about the challenges that girls face around the world, to draw attention to their needs and rights, and to promote their empowerment. In celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child 2021, I will be hosting an International Day of the Girl Free Online Chess Mini-Camp on October 11. This special day of chess is open to all girls under the age of 21, is tuition-free and all attendees will receive a special prize for participating. My goal is to ensure young women value their place in the chess community and the curriculum for this mini-camp will include chess games played by outstanding female role models.
