Sat, March 19

On March 19th and 20th, hundreds of talented children between kindergarten and the fifth grade are competing in Santa Clara, California at the 47th annual CalChess Scholastic Championship (aka The CalChess SuperStates) for the title of Northern California State Champion. In the coming days I will be sharing many games, stories and photographs to document this historic event. This evening, please enjoy my camera roll from Day 1 of the 2022 K-5 CalChess Super States and don’t forget to have your child bring their notation sheets to the CalChess Scholastic Coordinator’s table for free game analysis and a chance at winning one of the Brilliancy Prizes or having their games published in the next issue of The CalChess Journal.

Day 2 of the 2022 CalChess K-5 Super State Championship was a special day for California chess. The drama of the final round battles were spectacular and I will be posting plenty of these well played chess games during the next several days. For now, please enjoy the slideshow from the second day of 47th Annual CalChess Scholastic Championship featuring hundreds of Northern California youth chess players and their families enjoying the game of chess.
